The route initially follows a forest road to Praciadelan, where the environment becomes increasingly natural and silent. From here the trail becomes a dirt road and leads to the Rifugio Capanna degli Alpini hut, the arrival point of the hike and an ideal place for a break immersed in nature.
The hut, run in a panoramic position at the foot of the Dolomite walls, allows you to fully experience the authentic atmosphere of the valley, surrounded by forests, scree and majestic peaks. The hike takes place along the same route both outward and return and is suitable for hikers with a minimum of training, perfect for those seeking an intense but accessible experience in the unspoiled nature of Cadore.
From Calalzo di Cadore you cross the town following the signs for Val d'Oten. Continue along the forest road to the hamlet of Praciadelan, where the trail becomes unpaved. Continue to the Capanna degli Alpini hut. Return is along the same route in the direction of Calalzo.

From Belluno, one reaches Calalzo di Cadore by driving along the SS51 di Alemagna in the direction of Cadore. The journey takes about an hour and passes through some of the most beautiful landscapes in the Piave Valley.
To reach Calalzo di Cadore from Belluno by public transportation, you can use the regional train bound for Calalzo-Pieve di Cadore-Cortina or the Dolomiti Bus suburban buses that connect Belluno with Cadore.
