Discovery route - Boxberg - Municipality of Georgenthal

You can conveniently start the route from the parking lot at the racetrack. Next, head to the idyllic Erlsborn pond, a quiet place to pause.

A special natural monument awaits you at the Old Oak. Soon the view opens towards Emleben, where the vast landscape of the Thuringian Forest appears, before you reach the charming White Bridge over the Leinakanal – a small wooden bridge that blends harmoniously into the surroundings.

For a cozy break, the inn “Thuringian Forest View” offers regional specialties. A real highlight at the end is the hill grave field from the early Iron Age (around 500 BC), which offers fascinating insights into the history of the region.

The route is well signposted, mostly runs on paved paths, and can be completed in about 2–2.5 hours. It is especially beautiful between spring and autumn – when the forest is in full color.
