Scudellate - Alpe di Caviano

The route begins in the picturesque village of Scudellate, in the upper Muggio Valley. From here, a lightly trafficked, surfaced mountain road with panoramic views meanders gently up to the hamlet of Roncapiano.

Upon reaching the oratory of Beata Giovanna Falconieri, a well-marked path crosses through a small chestnut wood. The route continues to Muggiasca. From here, a surfaced road leads back to Alpe di Castello, following the official signposts for “Bellavista”.

Upon entering the Monte Generoso Forest Reserve, the path, surrounded by majestic beech trees, continues in an unspoilt natural setting until it emerges near the oratory of the Cascina d'Armirone, an ideal place for a short break in peace and quiet.

From here, the route follows a surfaced road through a beech forest until reaching the Agriturismo Dosso dell'Ora. At this point the surroundings become even more atmospheric, as the route follows a forest road that leads to the final destination of Alpe di Caviano in around 45 minutes.

The last stretch, characterised by a historic mule track, transports us back in time, recalling the ancient routes travelled by shepherds and local people.

Situated at 967 m a.s.l., the Alpe di Caviano is now a welcoming and modern hut. Set amidst green meadows and with a wonderful view of the surrounding mountains, it is the ideal spot to stop for refreshments and enjoy a few days in nature.
