The Laghi di Fusine are among the most beautiful natural gems of the Italian Julian Alps, near the Slovenian border. Nestled in a breathtaking alpine landscape at around 930 m above sea level, they consist of the Upper and Lower Lakes (Lago Superiore and Lago Inferiore), connected by short walking paths. The crystal-clear water mirrors the surrounding peaks, especially the majestic Mangart (2,677 m).
The area is a paradise for hikers, photographers, and nature lovers. The circular trail around the lakes is particularly recommended and perfect for families. In winter, the landscape transforms into a quiet fairytale world; in summer, picnic areas and boat rentals invite you to relax.
Not far from the lakes lies the Alpe Fusine Nature Reserve, home to rare flora and fauna. Another highlight is the Rifugio Luigi Zacchi, a mountain hut offering panoramic views and a starting point for more demanding hikes.
