Your hike takes you through the villages of Blies-Guersviller, a typical Lorraine village, and Graefinthal, before you reach the heart of the Sitterswald on the German side, at the border with Sarreguemines. The forest is part of the Bliesgau Biosphere Reserve, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In the middle of nature, you find yourself surrounded by pristine natural areas with a variety of trees such as maple, hazel, black alder, hawthorn, larch, sessile oak, wild cherry, black ash, spruce, Vancouver fir, and walnut, as well as other plants (cattail, ivy with its vines and berries, clematis, anemone, coltsfoot, lesser celandine, sweet violet, orchids, etc.).
