The route crosses the places of Biella textile culture from the 18th century to today, with prestigious companies that represent Made in Italy worldwide, between the Pre-Alps and DOC production vineyards. In Valle Mosso, the Strada della Lana is the industrial archaeology route between Biella and Borgosesia where you find the Fabbrica della Ruota (former Zignone wool mill), one of the best-known examples of industrial archaeology in Italy. Founded in 1878, now home to the Textile Industry Documentation Center, it hosts exhibitions and events. Notable stops along the route include Bonda hamlet, an open-air museum with over 100 contemporary artworks. In the village of Masserano, Pontifical fiefdom governed by the Ferrero-Fieschi family for five centuries, worth a visit are the Palazzo dei Principi, a small gem of Piedmontese Baroque, the Collegiate Church, the Church of San Teonesto, and the Church of Santo Spirito. Between Lessona, Masserano and Brusnengo, you cycle among the vineyards of the fine DOC Bramaterra and Coste della Sesia. From Coggiola (kingdom of Paletta, Slow Food Presidium ham) to Trivero you reach Oasi Zegna, a highly valued nature reserve of 100 sq km, with the Museo Casa Zegna illustrating the history and tradition of Zegna.
