The Bommecke valley, south of Böddinghausen, is a nature reserve and part of the Fauna-Flora-Habitat "Ravine Forests in the Lenne Valley." An exceptionally diverse animal and plant life finds its home in this narrow incised valley. Huge ferns spread their fronds, soft mosses cover the forest floor. A fire salamander basks on a stone, while a lesser spotted woodpecker pecks insects from the bark high up in a tree. The stream bubbles exuberantly over rock ledges, swirls and speeds through rapids until it finally plunges powerfully into a narrow rock gorge.
The steep gorge of the Bommecke feels like a world untouched and secluded from the rest of the planet. The path there leads from the parking lot of the AquaMagis adventure pool through the district of Böddinghausen.
Also worth seeing: the listed fish-belly arch bridge near the adventure pool.
From the parking lot at the AquaMagis adventure pool, follow the street "Im Böddinghauser Feld" and turn right at the end into "Albert-Schweitzer-Straße." After about 300 m, turn right onto "Böddinghauser Weg" and about 200 m further, turn left onto the street "In der Bommecke." Continue straight ahead and then follow the street "Im Maisel," which leads you uphill in switchbacks. Here you will find the hiking sign U, which you can use to orient yourself on the entire circular route. The path ascends steeply toward the forest. Through a hollow path, you climb the valley slope formed by the Lenne until you reach the highest point of the route. From there, the return path begins through the Bommecke valley, with the first section about 100 m still steeply downhill. After that, the hiking trail is easy to walk. At the end of the circular route, you return to the street “In der Bommecke” and head right via “Böddinghauser Weg” and two times left back to the starting point.

Maybe take a jacket with you. The Bommecke valley is cooler year-round than the surrounding area.
Sturdy footwear and good fitness are always recommended.
