At the starting point, the first castle awaits you: Schaumburg Castle on the Nesselberg. From the 30-meter-high tower, you can let your gaze wander over the Weser Valley. After three more varied kilometers, you reach Osterburg, a former ruin from early medieval times. The circular hiking path then continues over the ridge of the Weser Mountains to Paschenburg. From the conservatory of the restaurant located here, you can enjoy a magnificent view while dining on local dishes.
Besides the culturally significant castles, the route features very interesting flora. Among other things, you pass the natural monument Springsteine and the legendary "Mäumkeloch."
After 13 varied kilometers, you reach your starting point at Schaumburg Castle. It is recommended to finish with a refreshment at the adjoining establishment.
The circular hiking route starts and ends at Schaumburg Castle. From there, head northwest and after just three kilometers you will reach the next castle: Osterburg. The hiking trail then leads you over the ridge of the Weser Mountains to the third castle, Paschenburg. The route continues on a section of the Weserbergland trail and back to Schaumburg.
The path consists of about 10% asphalt, about 38% solid paths, and about 52% natural trails.

By car:
Follow the signs to "Schaumburg Castle." The parking lot is directly at Schaumburg.
Rinteln Station: Nordwestbahn RB77 from Hildesheim to Bünde.
From Rinteln Station, it is about a 30-minute bus ride and a dial-a-ride taxi (AST) to Schaumburg.
Use the hiking parking lot at Schaumburg Castle.
