Úroveň obtížnosti: T1
This circular route starts from Piazza del Kuerc, the historic heart of Bormio, and combines nature and authentic Valtellina charm in a suggestive path offering ever-changing views of the valley. Ideal...
Leaving the square, you cross the old village and take the road leading to the Alpine Botanical Garden Rezia (worth a short visit), where the trail for the Pedemontana della Reit begins. The path is comfortable and almost flat, well exposed to the sun and perfect even on cooler October days. Walking through resin-scented woods and panoramic clearings, you enjoy splendid views over Bormio, Valdidentro, and the peaks of the Cima Piazzi and Ortles-Cevedale groups.
Upon reaching the locality of Uzza, the path gently descends to the small rural village of Teregua, where time seems to have stopped among ancient wooden huts and the picturesque little church of the Holy Crucifix. From here, you cross the bridge over the Adda River and return to Bormio following the cycle-pedestrian path along the Frodolfo stream, amid meadows and pastures at the foot of the mountains.
A perfect route for those looking for a simple yet satisfying walk, with the possibility to stop along the way for a scenic break or a picnic amidst autumn colors.

Layered clothing (weather can change quickly)
Windproof/rain jacket
Light hat and gloves in case of cool days
Water and snacks
Optional trekking poles, useful on slopes

The route is simple and suitable for everyone, but some sections with uneven ground require caution, especially after rain or on icy mornings in late autumn. In autumn, temperatures can drop quickly in the afternoon: plan to return with enough daylight margin.

There are plenty of photo opportunities among the crystal-clear lake waters and the warm colors of the surrounding woods.
The path is simple but can be slippery in autumn due to wet leaves or damp ground: trekking shoes with good soles are recommended.
Bring layered clothing, a windproof jacket, and water.
Respect local wildlife: ungulates and bearded vultures freely live in the valley; do not disturb animals.
Bring a snack or packed lunch.
Always collect your rubbish and leave the place clean.
Make a stop at the Botanical Garden: it’s a unique opportunity to discover the flora of Stelvio National Park. Plan a picnic: along the Pedemontana there are several equipped areas or panoramic clearings perfect for a break. Visit the village of Teregua: the small village is a gem of rural architecture and the little church of the Holy Crucifix is worth a visit.
