E-biking in Seeboden - Sommeregger Hut / Hansbauer Hut on the Tschiernock Alp

The route leads steeply from Seeboden to Burg Sommeregg, a highlight you must see.

Burg Sommeregg: The castle probably already existed around 1187. The Sommereggers as knights were responsible for guarding the castle and providing military support to the Ortenburgers. In return, they received taxes and services from the peasants who belonged to the Sommeregg estate.

After the Ortenburgers and the Counts of Cilli, the castle became property of the Habsburgs and later the Khevenhüllers. With the peasants' emancipation of 1848, Sommeregg lost its function as the center of a manorial lordship.
In 1969, Elfi and Andreas Egger bought the castle, which had almost fallen into ruin, renovated and restored it. In 1992, they sold Sommeregg to the Riegler family. They opened the castle to tourism, started a restaurant operation, and established the torture museum. Since 1997, knightly games have been held annually in August.

After visiting the castle, the route leads up through the village of Treffling and joins the Tschiernock Panorama Road, which winds about 13 km through several switchbacks to the Sommeregger Hut.
