Encounters happen along many levels on the way; hikers follow the "Via Paradiso" step by step on an invitation to themselves. A night in one of the nearby architect-designed bivouacs will let you dream under the stars - perhaps a start to new dimensions for two.
A picnic in one of the hammocks or on a sun plateau can also be unforgettable since the silence on the south side of the lake is a gift for the senses. People who recognize beauty in detail are privileged. For them, treetops touched by the sun smell distinctly different than the shaded paths of the forest.
As different as the stages are, so varied is the four-day hike - from baroque villas, lush farmhouse gardens, historical places and castle ruins to a morning jump into the up to 27 degrees warm lake water. Whether you jump into the water from a rowing boat in a secluded bay or from a shady forest path or prefer to dive gracefully into the Carinthia bathing house in Millstatt on the lake, the magic of "Via Paradiso" will accompany you on every step and every stroke of the oar.
Frequent, even if only brief, stops at the thoughtfully staged viewpoints reliably press the inner reset button. Have you ever dined on a specially built raft, served by a waiter by boat with the excellent game and fish specialties of the region? Luck has clearly settled around the lake and takes many forms. Recognizing it is your only task.
The magic of hiking lies here at every fork in the road. Every hike around Lake Millstatt offers new discoveries that were previously hidden. Simply paradisiacal.

Important prerequisites for a successful mountain hike, in addition to careful study of guides and maps, are optimal equipment.
The basic equipment includes:
solid, well-fitting mountain or hiking boots with grippy soles water- and windproof mountain clothing in a layering system, hiking poles sunglasses, sun protection mobile phone and hiking map a first aid kit as well as enough drinking water and a snackProper behavior in the mountains
Careful tour planning using descriptions and hiking maps is essential for a successful mountain hike. Equally important is correctly assessing the mountain experience, stamina, sure-footedness, freedom from dizziness, and endurance of all participants. Never leave the marked hiking trails and avoid shortcuts. Inform yourself about the weather conditions before the hike and return to the valley in case of deteriorating weather. The mountains are for everyone. Helping to maintain their preservation and cleanliness is every hiker’s duty. You should take your waste back down to the valley; the animal and plant world should be protected. Always keep dogs under control and on a short leash. If an attack by a grazing animal is foreseeable, the dog must be unleashed immediately. Austrian farmers make an important contribution to the preservation of alpine pastures. We ask you, as a visitor, to respectfully adapt to this beautiful landscape.Meet the people working here, nature, and the animals with respect.
