On safari through the zoo: More than 150 different animal species from all over the world invite you on an exciting journey of discovery at Heidelberg Zoo. The Red Pandas like to spend the day high up in the branches and the Sumatran tigers love to roam through the dense bamboo forest in their enclosure. Hard to miss are the bright orange-red Cuban flamingos on their lake or the Asian elephants, which like to cool off in the bathing pool in summer. Just like the Barbary lion couple Khalid and Binta, the maned seals are particularly popular with visitors. A variety of action days and events at Heidelberg Zoo provide variety throughout the year. For families with children, the large play ship "Arche", the climbing towers and the two water playgrounds are popular stopovers when visiting the zoo.

With its didactic concept, Heidelberg Zoo focuses on eventful education. The Zoo Academy, the educational department of the zoo, offers a wide range of events for different age groups, interests and occasions with its focus on animals and nature, laboratory, technology and exhibition: workshops, holiday programs, tours and more! In this way, the experience of animals, nature and technology is possible in ever new ways.
