Hiking - Drachenstich circular route

Right at the beginning, just half a kilometer from the starting point at the Murnau Cultural and Conference Center, a visit to the Münter House, the former residence of the painter Gabriele Münter and her partner, the painter Wassily Kandinsky, is worthwhile.
Continuing through an impressive avenue of trees – a detour leads to the Lourdes Grotto, which invites prayer hidden in a shady gorge – breathtaking views soon open up from a ridge across the Murnauer Moor and the mountain ranges behind it including Germany's highest, the Zugspitze. Just a short distance further, the hiker can decide to visit the Georgskircherl, also called “Ähndl”, the oldest church built in the 8th century in the Staffelsee area, and enjoy a break in the adjoining beer garden or the nearby Alpenhof.
The actual circular route continues to the Drachenstich, a small waterfall and a romantic gorge where, according to legend, the Murnau Lindwurm supposedly devoured its many maidens. Over a small ridge, one reaches the Staffelsee with its seven islands, where many opportunities are available in the Murnau bay to spend the day actively or relaxing.
