Geopark circular route: Chapel path (path 2)

After the start, you first pass the entrance gate of the vineyard site “Reischklinge”. In the left hairpin of the main path go straight ahead, uphill to the Höhenberg. At the top turn right and hike to the Wendelinus Chapel. It was built in 1607 and dedicated to St. Wendelin as the patron saint of livestock and domestic animals. The saint was especially venerated by the shepherds of the Bachgau.
From there turn right, following the Franconian red wine hiking path. We leave the vineyards on the right and reach the peace bench with a wonderful view of the Main plain. In front of the horse clinic, you exit the forest and follow the path to the right to a horse paddock. Then turn right again, past the “Old Brickworks”. Shortly after that, take the path on the right back to the parking lot.
