Glücksplaneten route - exploring the solar system in Ottobeuren

Cross Rupertstraße west of the marketplace and walk along the basilica. The path curves around the building and leads to Sebastian-Kneipp-Straße, which is crossed at a traffic light. On the left, parallel to the street, follow a small path towards the Kneipp Active Park. Here you can take a first Kneipp break.

On the local high path, the mountain peaks of the Allgäu Alps are visible. The path continues over open areas to a Lourdes grotto. Here take a right into the Bannwald forest, after about 140 m turn right. The path then mostly runs in the shade, continuing along the forest edge, gently ascending to the main destination, the Allgäu Public Observatory.

Not only is this worth seeing, but also the magnificent view of Ottobeuren with the splendid Benedictine abbey that opens up shortly before the observatory. Once arrived at the top, the quiet zone with benches is ideal for a picnic.

The circular route leads back into the Bannwald after 200 m and turns west in a curve towards the so-called Motzabach. Along the picturesque course of the stream, several stations of the local forest experience trail and a Kneipp facility are passed. Soon after, the path leads out of the forest past a Benedictine column onto a meadow path that leads to Ottostraße above the basilica and further to the marketplace.

The A7 from Ulm to Füssen and the A96 from Munich to Lindau.

Arrival by train

From all over Germany and neighbouring countries, you can travel conveniently by train to the Allgäu region. From Munich, the Regional-Express towards Oberstdorf and Lindau also runs fast and comfortably. Within the Allgäu, you can reach numerous attractions with the Bavarian Railways. Arrival by plane

For travel by plane, the Allgäu Airport in Memmingen, Munich Airport, and Friedrichshafen Airport on Lake Constance are suitable. Further travel by bus or train is possible from these airports.

In every town/village you will find parking spaces where you can leave your car for longer periods.

Parking is available in the neighbouring industrial area or at the sports ground near Sportwelt Ottobeuren.
