To the Alpkönigblick observation tower

The tour starts at the parking lot (P2) of the mountain farm museum in Diepolz at an altitude of 984 meters. From there, the trail initially leads steeply uphill towards the village center. Before the museum, the path branches off to the right, followed shortly afterwards by another turn-off to the left, also steeply uphill, to the Höfle Alpe at 1,075 meters above sea level. This is the latest opportunity to put on your snowshoes, as the biggest ascent of the tour has now been completed.

After this strenuous section, it is worth taking a quick look back down into the valley. The route then follows the signposts over a gentle ascent towards the Alpkönigblick viewing tower.

The trail continues through snow-covered forest and across snow-covered meadows until the striking lookout tower becomes visible. The tower can be climbed and is a special vantage point on the Hauchenberg at an altitude of 1,239 meters. The platform is a further 14 meters higher and is made entirely of local silver fir wood. On a clear day, the panoramic view stretches from the Zugspitze in the Wetterstein mountain range across the Allgäu Alps to the Säntis in Switzerland. In heavy snowfall, the tower may be closed for safety reasons; even then, the area offers a rewarding vantage point.

After reaching the Hauchenberg, the area invites you to take a break. The view is ideal for a snack and a warming cup of tea.

The return journey follows the same route back down into the valley to the starting point at the Bergbauernmuseum.
