The Heubühl is located above the village of Muggenbrunn in the Todtnau mountains. From the Wasenlift car park, the trail leads through snow-covered winter woodland to the upper end of the wild and romantic Holzschlagbach valley in Muggenbrunn. Here you can enjoy the winter tranquillity and, with a bit of luck, spot the odd wild animal. You can also listen to the babbling brook at the Klusen bridge in the Holzschlagbach valley and sit on the bench at the small alpine hut and enjoy the sunshine.
Your tour starts at the Wasenlift car park in Muggenbrunn, next to the Muggenbrunn-Säge bus stop, opposite the campsite. Walk uphill towards the forest and keep right at the second fork. Walk along the south side of the Heubühl through sunny winter woodland with views of the Black Forest village of Muggenbrunn and the Franzosenberg opposite. Shortly before Neustütz, turn right towards the Holzschlagbach valley, where you will reach the Klusen bridge. Follow the footpath straight on down through a slightly thicker forest to the Weidehütte. Continue downhill to the next junction. Turn right and walk uphill back to the starting point at the Wasenlift car park.
