Circular hike Forest Spirit route

The start point of the route is at the Festplatz/ recycling center parking lot in Bad Kohlgrub. From there, walk towards the sports field and then left along the stream into the shady forest ravine, past a small waterfall. After the Café Waldschlucht, continue through the ravine. Then leave the winding stream bed and hike a short way uphill around an old roundabout. Now the path runs through forest and meadows, and soon you will see through the trees in the distance the Rantscher Weiher.

At a small "weather hut" turn left towards the Unkundenwald. Past beautiful meadows, walk through mystical forest areas into the Trischelfilz. The Unkundenwald was a hamlet west of Lake Staffel, remains of which are still visible along the path today. After the path through the Trischelfilz, you finally come out of the forest and see a farm on the hill. Here the circular route closes again and you walk back through the forest ravine to the starting point.

A95, via Murnau (St2062) to Bad Kohlgrub

Bus stop: Erlestraße, Bad Kohlgrub

9606 Garmisch-Partenkirchen – Oberammergau – Wieskirche – Füssen

Follow Erlestraße in a northeasterly direction and cross the railway crossing. Right after crossing, turn left and follow the tracks further. Pass the playground on the left onto Kehrer Straße. You should now be able to see the parking lot of the recycling center. This is where your route begins.

Train station: Bad Kohlgrub station (11 minutes on foot to the starting point)

Murnau - Bad Kohlgrub - Oberammergau

Leave the station and follow the tracks westward. Cross the second railway crossing, directly after that turn left and continue to follow the tracks. Pass the playground on the left onto Kehrer Straße. You should now be able to see the parking lot of the recycling center. This is where your route begins.
