The Hörfeld Moor nature reserve extends between the municipalities of Hüttenberg and Mühlen over an area of 140 ha. Since 1997, the moor has been one of the 10 Austrian Ramsar sites and thus represents a wetland of international importance. At the same time, as a Natura 2000 site, it is part of the European network of spaces and natural landscapes worthy of protection. As a central component of the Noric region, the moor is emblematic of the environmental awareness of the surrounding communities. More than 500 different species of butterflies and moths, 125 species of birds and over 50 rare and endangered vascular plants have already been recorded here.

Free access all year round.
